NOTIFICATION OF PUBLIC HEARING AND INVITATION TO COMMENT ON PROPOSED CHANGES IN FRED TRANSIT SERVICE TO CAROLINE COUNTY


Date of Hearing: Tuesday, May 8, 2018.


Consistent with FREDericksburg Regional Transit’s (FRED) policy on public participation in connection with potential fare and schedule changes and FRED’s obligations under 49 USC 5307 and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, FRED hereby notifies the public of proposed changes in transit routes serving Caroline County, and invites you to comment on the possible effects of these potential changes. Additionally, FRED advises the public of a public hearing to be held by the Caroline County Board of Supervisors on this subject during its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 8, 2018.

Fall Hill Ave. Stop Changes


Effective Date: January 1, 2018


Stop # 162 will be relocated to Fall Hill Ave. / Wicklow Dr. at the new bus stop shelter.

Stop # 149 will be relocated to Fall Hill Ave. / Wicklow Dr. at the new bus stop shelter.

Fare Increase Approved


Effective Date: July 1, 2017


The City of Fredericksburg has held a public hearing on proposed fare
changes for FREDericksburg Regional Transit (FRED) during the
May 23, 2017, council meeting that was held at City Hall. The proposed fare changes were approved.

Half-Fare Changes


EFFECTIVE: July 1, 2016


Changes:

*Persons 65 years of age or older.
*Eligible persons may ride FRED's regular or VRE service for half-fare during ALL hours of operation.

SmartBenefits - Increased Transit Benefits


Some of FRED's VRE feeder service riders have received an increased transit benefit of up to $255 per month (previously $130). This handout is a reminder about FRED’s participation in the SmartBenefits program and how our VRE feeder service customers can allocate a portion of their benefits to cover the cost of their tickets and/or monthly passes.
